Welcome to Margarita Wenzel supported by Embassy of Foreign Artists

The MIP:Lab will be pleased to welcome Paris-based sound and installation artist Margarita Wenzel for a three-month residency from September to December 2026, as part of the Embassy of Foreign Artists’ new Art&Science cycle centered on the theme of imagination.

Working alongside Dr. Karolis Degutis, Margarita will develop her project “Body After Voice,” investigating the intersection of AI voice synthesis and neural imagery. Drawing on her background of being born in East Berlin and raised in Iran, her practice explores how voice shapes presence, imagery, and social relations across cultural and technological infrastructures. The collaboration will also explore what it means to treat the brain as a generative system that constantly produces internal narratives, resonating with Karolis’s 7T laminar fMRI work.

This residency continues EOFA’s decade-long commitment to fostering artist-scientist collaboration.
